The visitors came out of the blocks with real purpose and it didn’t take long for them to test Tom McHale in the home goal, but he was equal to everything that they threw at him.
A corner for Truro City caused problems in the 11th minute and as the ball was headed back into the danger zone at the far post, it was half-cleared to Cody Cooke who fired just over.
The White Tigers were growing into the game as the half went on and the deadlock was broken on 27 minutes when Rocky Neal found the net.
But the lead lasted barely a minute as Whitehawk produced an instant response with a teasing cross from the left headed into his own net by the unfortunate Ben Gerring.
With just three minutes to go until the break, we regained the lead courtesy of Tyler Harvey and it was a strong finish to the opening period for Lee Hodges’ side.
The second period started in much the same vein and it took just six minutes for us to extend our advantage when Stewart Yetton’s effort was blocked but Neal was alert to turn the rebound home.
It was 4-1 on 66 minutes as a corner found its way across to Cooke who lashed the ball home much to the delighted of the home faithful.
We almost added another goal when Harvey linked up well with Neal but he was off target this time.
After a couple of late changes by The White Tigers, our visitors managed to pull a goal back in stoppage time at the end through Mills but there was only one winner on this pleasant Spring afternoon and that was Truro City as we roared to victory.
