Agreement has been reached to enable Treyew Road to be upgraded to Grade B standard

The FA requires the grounds of clubs playing in the National League South to be of Grade B standard. Having gained promotion last season, Truro City has until 31st March 2016 to achieve that grading level. The work required is as follows:

  • 50 undercover seats to be added to the existing 200 seat stand
  • New fencing to be erected by the sloping grass areas in front of the bar and media building
  • Capacity of each dugout to be increased from 9 to 11

An agreement with Helical was needed in order for the upgrades to be made and this is now in place. Work has started and will be completed before an FA inspection of Treyew Road on Thursday 28th January.

The FA requires the upgrades to be made even though Truro City are only scheduled to play three games at Treyew Road between the March 31st deadline and the end of the season. These will, of course, be the last fixtures at Treyew before the ground is redeveloped.

Moreover, should the team reach the play offs at the end of the season, additional work will be needed since there are special grading requirements relating to those matches.

Without this work, Truro City would not be permitted to complete the 2015-16 season in the National League South. The costs are being met entirely by Truro City Football Club and this is another indication of the level of financial commitment required to compete at this level.
