When just two points separate the top seven clubs as the nights already start to draw in, then you the entertainment is only just getting started.

But the big question is, who has the staying power this September? We’ve been taking a close inspection of the fast starters.

Poole Town are in possession of first place as we head into the weekend. Tom Killick’s team are determined to stay there but their manager knows there’s more to come from his team.

The rest of the month could tells us a lot - next it’s a visit from unbeaten Harrow Borough, then it’s tricky trips to [b]Gosport and Hendon.

They say it’s the draw that kill you. Truro City have so far shown it’s not you can lose matches and still be up there - as long as you’re winning more often than you’re not!

The White Tigers have lost two of their first six but they’ve won four. This weekend they welcome Gosport before Tuesday night’s game at Wimborne. They end the month at home to Hayes & Yeading.

With striker Toby Holmes, Salisbury say they are a match for anyone. He’s got five goals to his name as he helped fire the Whites to within two points of the lead. What will the next few days tell us? It’s a home game with Met Police on Saturday before a big one with Weston-super-Mare.

The Seagulls, as many expected, are also up there and looking strong. They came through a tough August with plenty to show for it - and this weekend want to up the heat by beating Walton Casuals.

Chesham maybe aren’t a side most expected to shine. But under the guidance of James Duncan and Michael Murray, they have won four from six. Now we’re going to find out what they’re made of with Saturday’s visit to Merthyr followed by a home game with Hayes & Yeading.

Tiverton are going great guns but they won’t have it all their own way at Hartley Wintney this weekend.

Spencer Day thinks Farnborough can still compete for a promotion place - they will need to see off Blackfield & Langley first.

Also on Saturday, Hendon and Dorchester Town clash. Beaconsfield are winless so far - can they put that right and stop leaking goals in the process at home to Wimborne?

Taunton Town have a solid ten points on the board but want to add to their total. They are at home to Swindon Supermarine, who have two wins from their six games.
