BRACKNELL TOWN 2-3 TRURO CITY

Cameron Weldon

A 95th minute winner from club captain Connor Riley-Lowe secured the White Tigers a fairy-tale ending as they beat Bracknell Town 3-2 to gain promotion to the National League South.

The skipper tapped the ball home at the back post in the dying embers to send the Truro players and supporters into sheer jubilation.

City had twice led through goals from Tyler Harvey and Rocky Neal, but they were pegged back by the hosts thanks to strikes from Darryl Sanders and Magnus Suen Jr Abisogun, before Riley-Lowe stole the headlines with one of the very last kicks of the game.

It was an entertaining end to end game and it was the hosts who had the first real opportunity as the ball was pulled back into the box from the right-hand side, but the inviting cross couldn’t find a Bracknell body.

Truro’s first chance of the game fell to Rocky Neal. A long goal kick from James Hamon was knocked on by the head of Tyler Harvey to Dan Sullivan who played a perfectly waited through ball to Neal who smashed his shot wide and into the crowd.

Up the other end Hamon had a comfortable claim following a rather tame shot from the edge of the box.

Shane White jump highest and saw his headed attempt saved by the keeper before the offside flag was later raised.

City had a massive chance to break the deadlock. Riley-Lowe beat his marker down the left and crossed into the box where Harvey was lurking, but he saw his header canon back off the post.

Bracknell didn’t clear properly, and Truro attacked again. Craske kept the move alive and crossed to the far post where Riley-Lowe attacked it, but it was straight at goalkeeper Eacott.

Hamon then had to be alert as he dived to push away a goal bound free kick.

Just as it looked like the scores would be level at the break, Truro broke the deadlock. Hamon’s long kick found its way to Neal who in turn found his strike partner Harvey and he rifled the ball past the keeper with a shot from outside the box to give City the lead at half time.

Bracknell now shooting towards the majority of their more vocal support started the second half brightly and they drew level 10 minutes into the second half. Yassine En-Neyah fouled Ethan Burden in the box and the referee pointed straight to the spot.

Sanders stepped up and sent Hamon the wrong way with an expertly taken penalty to level the encounter.

It was very nearly an own goal and a moment to forget for Bracknell defender Daniel Bayliss as he cleared a Sullivan cross just over the cross bar and out for a corner.

Truro regained their lead from the resulting set piece. Tyler Harvey saw his header blocked on the line. Ben Adelsbury headed the rebound down to the feet of Neal who poked the ball home from close range.

That lead was short lived though as the hosts equalised once again 4 minutes later. Bayliss knocked the ball down to Abisogun who saw an acrobatic effort hit the post and go in.

Both teams looked for a winner. Firstly, Harvey tried to bend a shot into the top corner, but his effort was off target before substitute Ryan Brett hit one straight into the hands of Eacott.

Bracknell then had a huge chance to take the lead. The ball was played to the back post where Jordan Esprit was waiting but he sliced his shot over the bar.

Just as the game looked set to go to extra time, Truro managed to find a late winner in the most dramatic of circumstances. Finley Craske launched a throw into the box. Harvey received and gave it to Neal who then returned it to the striker who put the ball across goal on a plate for the on rushing Riley-Lowe to slot home to win the game for the White Tigers and secure place back in step 2 after a 4 year absence.
