TRURO CITY 1-2 HAMPTON & RICHMOND BOROUGH

Cameron Weldon

The White Tigers suffered their third defeat in seven days as they were beaten by Hampton & Richmond Borough at Bolitho Park.

Andrew ‘Rocky’ Neal’s penalty on the brink of half time cancelled out Jordan Cheadle’s headed opener but Connor Kurran-Browne's goal seven minutes into the second half proved to be the winner as the Beavers claimed all three points and succumbed City to another loss.

After back-to-back away defeats at Braintree Town and Yeovil Town respectively, Paul Wotton’s men were looking to bounce back, and they started strongly.

Adam Porter lofted a ball into the box from the right-hand side. Harvey Greenslade leapt highest, but his header went over the crossbar.

Ed Palmer played a searching pass out wide to captain Connor Riley-Lowe who delivered a brilliant ball into the box. Porter charged into the box but headed narrowly wide of the target.

The visitors from the capital opened the scoring on 22 minutes. A corner was sent to the back post and Cheadle got above Riley-Lowe to head into the net.

Truro went in search of an equaliser. Greenslade beat the offside trap and pulled the ball back to an unmarked Shane White, but the defender's shot went the wrong side of the post.

Cheadle then hit a free kick straight at debutant Jamie Pardington in the Truro goal.

Palmer came close. The centre-back let fly and saw his goal-bound attempt brilliantly saved by the keeper.

City got their deserved equaliser on the brink of half time. Neal was pulled to the ground and the referee had no other option than to point to the spot. Neal stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way to level the scorers, tucking away his fourth goal in as many games.

Into the second half and Truro had a big opportunity. Dan Rooney pulled the ball back to Neal who saw his effort deflected for a corner.

Hampton regained their lead on 52 minutes. Pardington got down well to push away a shot, but Kurran-Browne was quick to tap the rebound into the empty net.

Up the other end, Riley-Lowe headed a White cross wide of the post.

Palmer blasted a shot towards the goal and saw his attempt pushed away by the keeper before City had a strong penalty appeal waved away by the referee.
Pardington did well to save a low shot before Ben Seymour hit a shot from distance that cannoned back off the crossbar.

Substitute Ryan Brett had the last chance of the game and came so close to scoring a late equaliser. He attacked a White cross and made good contact with the ball but the keeper was again there to save as Hampton saw the game out to claim all three points.
