TRURO CITY 2-1 WIMBORNE TOWN

A brace from Rocky Neal ensured the White Tigers came from behind to beat Wimborne Town 2-1 at Bolitho Park.

The striker came off the bench to score two late goals to win the game for Paul Wotton’s men on Saturday afternoon.

City hadn’t played in 11 days so there could easily have been an element of rustiness but that was not the case as they started brightly.

The woodwork denied them an opening goal as Tyler Harvey saw a free kick cannon back off the post just past the 20-minute mark.

The Wimborne keeper then tipped a Rio Garside corner over the bar before Ryan Brett had an overhead kick from close range saved by the keeper.

Connor Riley-Lowe had a half volley comfortably saved and then Garside was again involved in the action. His low effort went narrowly wide of the bottom corner as the opening 45 minutes drew to a close.

Into the second half and City thought they should have had a penalty as Harvey was bundled over in the area, but the referee said no penalty.

Wimborne were starting to get a foothold in the game and against the run of play they found an opening goal. Harry Morgan finished off a good move to put his side ahead.
Not to be disheartened City kept pushing for an equaliser.

They were given a boost as Wimborne were reduced to 10 men as their captain Scott Arnold was shown a second yellow card.

Hartley and Harvey both had chances go begging before Wimborne could have had a second, but they were denied by a great save from James Hamon.

With three minutes to play Tyler Harvey saw a header hit Neal which hit the inside of the post before Zac Hartley smashed the ball home to make sure. On reviewing the footage, the ball had crossed the line from Neal’s touch, so the goal was awarded to him.

With plenty of stoppage time following injuries and the red card City went in search of a late winner. Harvey saw a free kick go wide while up the other end Wimborne had a massive chance go to waste as the forward blasted a shot over the bar from close range.

With 98 minutes on the clock the White Tigers found a winning goal. Neal and Harvey linked up well before the ball was played out wide to Riley-Lowe who whipped in a delightful cross which Neal tapped home to secure all 3 points for Paul Wotton’s men.
