The former Plymouth Argyle assistant signs for two-years

Truro City Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Paul Wotton as First Team Manager of Truro City Football Club. Up until the end of last season, Paul worked as the assistant manager at Plymouth Argyle and has today (Thursday, July 4) signed a two-year-deal to manage the White Tigers.

Paul brings with him to Treyew Road a wealth of football experience, both on and off the field. He started his playing career at Plymouth Argyle, and after spells at Southampton and Yeovil Town returned to the Plymouth side before embarking on a coaching career at Argyle in 2015.

Paul says it was the challenge and the growing professionalism at the club that attracted him to the Manager position at Truro City FC.

“The infrastructure is getting bigger and better,” he said. “The Club is run in a vastly more professional way. I’m a professional person so the more good people you’ve got around you the better.

“I’m here to concentrate on the football,” Paul added. “This is my first Manager’s job so it’s exciting for me and a real positive step forward on my career path. It’s a Club with a great tradition in non-league circles and I’m looking forward to getting started.”

On the field, Paul says he is looking for three things in his players. High work rate, high standards and a will to win.

“The squad needs adding to”, Paul said. “But they’ve got to be the right player for Truro City Football Club. It’s important we sign the right player for the club. I’m not panicking on that, my priority is building the right squad.”

And his message to the fans?

“The fans are so, so important to the football club. I can guarantee them a team that will work their socks off every minute of every game for our club.”

Club Finance Director Rebecca Thomas (pictured with Paul) said the Club was delighted that Paul has signed a two-year contract.

“Everyone at the Club is delighted to have Paul on board,” she said. “We can now look forward to the season with a renewed enthusiasm and a positive attitude. We can’t wait for him to get started.”
