Debutant Alex Battle saw a shot comfortably saved after some good link up play between Jephcott and Garside while Will Dean fires just wide of the target.

Battle again had a big chance with 22 minutes but couldn’t force his shot past the goalkeeper.

City’s dominance was finally rewarded as we broke the deadlock courtesy of an own goal. Niall Thompson send in an inviting cross that Yetton attacked but ultimately put into his own net by Carl Peteffer for 0-1.

We finished the half the stronger and should have perhaps made it two. The ever lively Alex Battle has two more opportunities but was denied by Plain on both occasions in the Wimborne net.

Going into the second half it was a similar story to the first, with Truro dominating proceedings.

Jephcott saw a shot saved before Garside cleverly picked out Yetton who’s resulting shot was blocked.

Jephcott then found himself one vs one but couldn’t finish from a difficult angle.

We were then punished for our missed chances as the hosts were awarded a penalty on the hour mark, which Stefan Penny dispatched to level the scores.

Truro then had a big penalty appeal waved away before Adel Gafaiti was given his marching orders. The defender found himself as the last man and had no option but to foul to prevent a certain goal.

Although little did he know that, that “certain goal” was about to happen anyway. From the resulting free kick Billy Maybury fired a stunning shot into the top corner past a helpless James Hamon to put the home side in front.

The ten men of Truro never gave up and too were awarded a penalty of their own with eleven minutes to play. Niall Thompson danced his way past four players before being fouled in the area. Jephcott stepped up and sent Plain the wrong way to level the scores yet again.

Wimborne looked the more likely to find the winner and saw a huge chance go begging with five minutes remaining. Hamon made a superb close range safe before their striker fluffed his lines and fired over the bar.

So another point for the White Tigers who’s attentions move back to the FA Cup as we travel to National League North side Hereford on Saturday afternoon. 3pm kick off.
