HEROIC HAMON SENDS CITY THROUGH

THE White Tigers are through to the next round of the Emirates FA Cup after an exciting 2-1 victory over Wimborne Town at Treyew Road.

City go into Monday's second qualifying round draw thanks to goals from James Ward and Stewart Yetton and a superb James Hamon 90th minute penalty save.

We took the lead after just thirteen minutes when James Ward headed home a Will Dean free kick for 1-0 after Moulayne N'Diaye was fouled just outside the area.

The visitors responded quickly and had an equaliser inside ten minutes. Sam Bayston slotted home into the bottom corner giving Hamon no chances to draw the Magpies level.

Hamon made a great close range save while up the other end Niall Thompson forced a corner with a powerful shot from an acute angle.

Going into the second half, Truro had a few chances to regain the lead. Jamie Richards fired over from distance before Will Dean struck the bar as City started to take control.

Stewart Yetton came off the bench and made an almost instant impact. The striker latched onto an error of misjudgment from the Wimborne keeper and tapped home into the empty net to put us back in front.

Our Dorset visitors thought they had equalised moments later when their skipper Billy Maybury slotted home past Hamon but was denied by the referee after a hefty chat with his linesman.

In was then heartbreak for the White Tigers as the visitors were given a penalty after a foul by Jamie Richards deep into added time. Luckily for City James Hamon pulled off an incredibly save. Diving high to his left the keeper pushed away Tony Lee's spot kick to secure our place in the next round of the FA Cup.

We are back in action again on Tuesday night as we welcome Tiverton Town to Treyew Road in the League Cup. KO 7.45pm.
