CITY PROGRESS TO NEXT ROUND WITH EASE

FIRST half goals from Rio Garside, Moulaye N’Diaye and an own goal gave us a convincing 3-1 victory over Tiverton Town in the Southern League Challenge Cup.

After beating Wimborne Town on Saturday in the FA Cup we welcomed Tiverton looking to kick start our Southern League Cup campaign in similar fashion.

We started the better and it wasn’t long before we opened the scoring. Rio Garside danced past two defenders before firing low into the bottom corner for 1-0.

Captain for the evening Stewart Yetton was then played in brilliantly but his effort went just over the bar.

Our dominance continued and we quickly doubled our lead. Moulaye N’Diaye charged through and slotted home with ease into the far bottom corner as we dominated proceedings.

We quickly added a third before the break. Ryan Law did outstanding out wide and forced a cross which deflected in off a Tiverton body for 3-0 going into the half time break.

Going into the second period we continued to control proceedings and were in complete control.

Man of the Match Moulaye N’Diaye was causing problems and came close to making it four. He fired a free kick just wide before nearly picking out an unmarked Garside at the back post.

Niall Thompson then brilliantly beat two men with his pace before firing an across goal shot just wide.

Tiverton added a consolation in the last few minutes as former White Tigers man Jordan Bentley headed home.

We now go into the next round of the competition after a comfortable win.

We are also back at Treyew Road on Saturday as we entertain Gosport Borough in the Southern League.
