HARVEY SINKS HAYES AT WET TREYEW ROAD

THE White Tigers bounced back perfectly with an impressive 3-0 victory over Hayes and Yeading United at a wet Treyew Road.

A first half brace from Tyler Harvey on his return and a late Luke Jephcott strike secured the victory on Saturday afternoon.

After defeat at the hands of Hereford in the FA Cup last weekend City wanted a reponse and got off to the perfect start.

Tyler Harvey, making his first appearances since re-joining the club last week started off where he left off last season slotting home a loose ball into the bottom corner after just sixteen minutes to put us ahead.

Harvey had the ball in the back of the net again after an expert volley from the edge of the box beat the keeper, but his effort was ruled out for offside against Niall Thompson.

They couldn’t stop the striker adding to his tally soon after though. With just 30 minutes on the clock Harvey turned in a Will Dean cross to double our advantage.

With the rain lashing down, the conditions worsened making it difficult for both sides. Austen Booth made an impressive last-ditch tackle while up the other end Luke Jephcott saw an effort blocked that just wouldn’t land for Harvey.

Truro started the second half the way they finished the first, on top. Jephcott’s inviting cross was met by Niall Thompson whose header couldn’t beat the keeper.

Tyler Harvey then saw a free kick go just over the cross bar as City continued to dominate proceedings.

James Hamon was called into action on a number of occasions but was equal to everything Hayes sent his way.

Harlain Mbayo then blocked a shot while Hamon claimed as Truro looked to secure another clean sheet.

They wrapped up the encounter with six minutes to play. Luke Jephcott converted a cross with a collected finish to beat Childs and secure us another three points in the Southern League Premier South.

We are next in action on Tuesday as we travel to Barnstaple in the Southern League Cup before heading to Yate Town next Saturday.
