FA TROPHY REPLAY REQUIRED

Cameron Weldon

A replay on Saturday is required to see who goes through to the Second Qualifying Round of the BuildBase FA Trophy after a 1--1 draw at Treyew Road against Blackfield & Langley.

The White Tigers now have to travel to Hampshire on the weekend, as Jamie Richards's header was cancelled out less than a minute later by Rudy Plummer to force a replay.

It was third time lucky for City, after the last two previous scheduled games against Blackfield had been called off due to the awful weather conditions of late, meaning the game was rearranged for Tuesday evening.

The tie started slowly with the ball being played in the midfield areas although the visitors did have the ball in the back of the net inside the opening eight minutes, which was ruled out for offside.

James Hamon was forced into a couple of top saves to deny the Watersiders from breaking the deadlock, while up the other end Luke Jephcott came closest for us. He saw a low shot pushed away to feet of Rio Garside who couldn't finish before being picked out unmarked in the box but couldn't keep his header down.

We started the second half the stronger and had a number of chances to opening the scoring. Garside's corner was headed wide by Adel Gafaiti.

James Ward then fired well off target before we finally found a breakthrough. Gafaiti saw a header knocked onto the bar only for the ball to fall to the head of Jamie Richards who headed the ball home for his first goal of the campaign.

Although are joy was short lived as Blackfield equalised straight from the kick off. Rudy Plummer tapped home from close range to level the scores and wipe out our lead that lasted just little over a minute.

Dan Rooney then saw a free kick pushed away by the visitors keeper.

We had some late chances to try and reclaim our lead. Harrison Davis saw a shot at the near post saved before he turned provider and picked out substitute Alex Battle who's little flick went just wide of the target.

The scores remained level meaning a replay on Saturday is required to find out the winners and see who faces Kingstonian in the next round.
