A fantastic first half James Ward header and a well taken finish from Louis Rooney late on gifted the White Tigers three points and put us up into second in the league standings.

After a Bank Holiday weekend to forget which saw us suffer two defeats in three days at the hands of Chesham United and Weston-Super-Mare, we headed to Hampshire looking to bounce back, and that’s exactly what we did.

James Ward powerfully headed us in front with just five minutes on the clock as he leaped highest following a Will Dean free kick.

More City chances followed. Moulayne N’Diaye on his first start for the White Tigers, did well out wide and managed to get a cross which Jamie Richards couldn’t convert at the back post.

Ward and Dean linked up well once again but this time the centre half couldn’t finish. Dean fizzed in a beautiful corner which Ward got on the end of but headed just over this time around.

City then had a glorious opportunity to make it two. Luke Jephcott did superbly out wide beating two men before picking out Harrison Davis at the back post who saw his header pushed away brilliantly by Liam Beach in the Farnborough goal.

Despite our domination James Hamon was forced into some fantastic saves while both Harlain Mbayo and Ryan Law put in some last-ditch tackles to help keep our lead intact. Up the other end N’Diaye saw a volley go just over as the half time whistle blew.

The hosts started the second period stronger which Perry Coles forcing a great save out of Hamon before Richards brilliantly blocked the resulting rebound.

Law and Niall Thompson linked up well out on the left-hand side which resulted in the latter hitting an inviting cross to the back post which Davis fired wide.

There was very little goal line in the latter stages of the half, but Truro had to weather the storm a little bit as the home side send lots of crosses into the box.

The White Tigers countered them and got their deserved second with minutes left to play. Davis picked out Jephcott who brought the ball down well before picking out substitute Louis Rooney who turned his man and fired high into the roof of the net for 0-2 and making sure we return to Cornwall with the three points.
