THE White Tigers are through to the next round of the Southern League Challenge Cup after a comfortable 2-5 win against Barnstaple Town at Mill Road.

Despite making nine changes to the side that eased past Hayes and Yeading on Saturday, Paul Wotton's side made it through in confident fashion thanks to braces from Rio Garside and Stewart Yetton along with a well taken Louis Rooney strike.

City started strongly and after a number of half chances quickly opened the scoring. Rio Garside cut inside before firing low into the bottom corner to put us ahead.

One became two within 7 minutes as Garside quickly turned provider as he send in a delightful ball which Stewart Yetton headed home to double our advantage in North Devon.

Barnstaple pulled one back before the break with a powerful header at the back post from Jack Langford that left Dan Stedman no chance.

We restored our three goal cushion in the second period as Stewart Yetton saw a shot go over the line despite the best efforts of our hosts defenders.

Brian Levien then made it 2-3 with a well taken finish to bring the encounter back to life before Louis Rooney quickly killed the tie. Gafaiti send an inviting ball forward which Rooney latched onto and finished with ease to make it four.

There was still time for Garside to get his second of the night in the last minute with a well taken finish to wrap up a comfortable night for the White Tigers.

TRURO - Stedman, Davis, Musselwhite, Gafaiti, Mbayo, Calleja-Stayne, Garside, N'Diaye, Yetton (C), Rooney, Battle.
