PEACOCKS UP NEXT FOR CITY

BY GARETH DAVIES

Truro City face Taunton Town tomorrow with this latest Vanarama National League South clash taking place at a neutral venue - Meadow Park, home of Gloucester City.

Paul Wotton's side will be looking for a first in seven matches when they host the Peacocks, who dropped into the relegation zone after City were defeated 3-2 at Welling United on Tuesday.

It was a brilliant opening 45 minutes for City at Park View Road as they dominated throughout, but crucially only found the mark once through Dan Sullivan.

Welling, who came into the match unbeaten under new boss Rod Stringer, scored twice within five minutes of the restart to turn the match on its head. Gene Kennedy stabbed home from close range before Sonny Fish finished a breakaway move.

But City restored parity when Tyler Harvey's effort from outside the box beat home custodian Reice Charles-Cook.

The game appeared to be heading for a draw until Antony Papadopoulos lashed home a loose ball from the edge of the box 12 minutes from time.

INJURY NEWS

"We are fully fit and we are almost at full strength," Paul Wotton told trurocity.co.uk. "Our only player that is missing is Billy Palfrey, but he is back in full training which is a real positive for the player, the squad and club."

IN OPPOSITION

Taunton have tumbled towards the National League South relegation trap door and currently occupy 21st position in the standings.

In their last six games, Taunton have picked up just three points and in their last outing, drew 1-1 at Dartford. Former City man Nick Grimes converted an 18th minute penalty but his effort was cancelled out 11 minutes shy of the interval by Fumnaya Shomotun.

Taunton have not secured all three points since they defeated Farnborough 4-0 at Wordsworth Drive on December 9.

And on their travels, the Peacocks were last victorious on September 9, when Rob Dray's charges were 3-0 winners at Tonbridge Angels.

LAST TIME WE MET
