EX CHAMPIONSHIP YOUNGSTER ARRIVES AT TREYEW ROAD

Truro City Football Club are thrilled to announce the signing of striker Kieran Hayes following his departure from Nottingham Forest.

The 21-year-old forward came to us on loan last season but only made one appearance before the season was cut short due to the Coronavirus pandemic. We are now pleased to reveal that he has joined the White Tigers on a permanent basis after leaving the Championship side over the summer.

Hayes, who featured heavily for Forests U23s sides, trialled for the club in the summer and scored both goals in our 2-2 draw with Willand Rovers.

Club consultant Alex Black shared his thoughts on the signing.

“To get a player of Kieran’s quality is a real coup for the football club. It is an example of the areas in which we are recruiting has expanded further than perhaps traditionally we have done. We have been able to get somebody that in the past would not be playing at this level or for this team. It is a massive credit to everyone at the club that we’ve been able to attract somebody like this to come join our team.”

Speaking after his deal was complete, Kieran was also pleased to get everything sorted and to join the White Tigers.

“I’m happy to be back and to try and finish off what the club should have had last season. Although I was only involved in it for a game, I think everyone was disappointed not to get promoted last year, so hopefully we’ll get the job done this year.”

The striker also said the decision to re-join City was an easy one.

“It was to be fair. The club have kept tabs on me since I left Forest at the end of last season. Obviously with the distance being so far away from Nottingham that was probably the only factor which made things a little bit more difficult. The football and the lads at Truro have all been good to me, the gaffer as well, so it made it a lot easier decision wise and it took the fact it was four and a half hours away from home out of it more.”

"I'm looking forward to getting back playing and just enjoying football again. I want to enjoy being part of a environment where people come and watch and enjoy coming to watch, where its part of their week. Entertaining the fans is a big part in why I wanted to come here.

Welcome to the club Kieran.
