TRURO CITY PLAYER PROFILES 2023/2024

James HAMON

Age – 28
Position – Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs - St Martins, Guernsey, Hayes and Yeading United, Gloucester City, Exeter City, Torquay United.

The 27-year-old keeper joined the White Tigers in the summer of 2019 after impressing in preseason. The Guernsey-born goalkeeper has previously been on the books of the likes of Exeter City and Gloucester City and arrived at City with an impressive pedigree. James made 37 appearances during six years at St James Park before joining the White Tigers where he has become a fans favourite over the last three seasons. Following the curtailment of the Southern League season in 2021, he joined Torquay United on loan before returning to Truro and agreeing on a new contract. He played a starring role as City won promotion back to the National League South in 2023.

Morgan JONES

Age – 17
Position – Goalkeeper
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Helston Athletic

17-year-old Morgan signed for the club's Reserves side in the summer of 2023 after leaving his previous club Helston Athletic. He was called up to train with the First Team during pre-season where he impressed Manager Paul Wotton. He will remain predominantly playing for the Reserves in the South West Peninsula League Premier West this year.


Ben ADELSBURY

Age – 32
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Swansea City, Salisbury City, Eastbourne Borough, Bath City, Taunton Town.

Versatile defender Ben Adelsbury joined the club in the summer of 2022. The 32-year-old arrived at the club with a wealth of Non-League experience which has seen him play for the likes of Salisbury, Bath City, Eastbourne Borough, and most recently Taunton Town where he won the Southern League Premier South title in 2022. Ben had a previous spell with the White Tigers between 2015 and 2017 where he made 53 appearances before going on to spend 5 successful years in Somerset with the Peacocks. The defender secured back-to-back promotions as he played a key role in City’s play-off winning campaign last season.

Connor RILEY-LOWE

Age – 27
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Exeter City, Weymouth, Bath City.

Riley-Lowe started his career with League Two side Exeter City, where he came through the club’s academy before signing his first professional contract with the Grecians in 2014. He ended up making 14 first-team appearances for the club, in between having two highly successful loan spells in Cornwall with Truro. Following his release from the Devon side, he was quickly snapped up by the White Tigers on a permanent basis in the summer of 2017 where he starred across two campaigns and was named Player of the Year on both occasions before deciding to leave to join Bath City in 2019. He returned to City after a year away following his release from the Somerset side in 2020. He was named Truro Player of the Year in both 2021/2022 and 2022/2023. He captained the side to play off glory last season, playing every minute of every game.

Ryan LAW

Age – 23
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Gloucester City, Torquay United, Gillingham, Yeovil Town.

Ryan Law became the fourth new addition through the door this summer. The 23-year-old came back to City with a wealth of football league experience having spent a season with Truro on loan from Plymouth Argyle in 2019/2020 where he won City’s Young Player of the Year and the Goal of the Year that campaign. He went on to make over 50 football league appearances for Argyle and Gillingham as well as having National League experience with Torquay United and Yeovil Town.

Sam SANDERS

Age – 21
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Nottingham Forest, Boston United, York City

Defender Sam Sanders became Paul Wotton’s sixth signing of the summer joining on a six-month loan deal from National League outfit York City. The commanding central defender started his career with Nottingham Forest where he played for their youth teams up to U23s level. He went on loan to York in February 2022 and helped them secure promotion to the National League before signing a 2-year deal with the Minstermen.

James MELHADO

Age – 22
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Wolves, Burton Albion, Newcastle Town, Hanley Town, Ashton United, AFC Telford United, Hereford, Salford City

Defender James Melhado became the club’s third signing of the summer. The 22-year-old full-back joined the White Tigers on a permanent basis after his recent release from Salford City. He spent last season on loan with Ashton United, AFC Telford United and Hereford. He started his professional career with Wolves and Burton Albion before he signed a 2-year deal with Salford City.

Ed PALMER

Age – 31
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Taunton Town, Bideford, Weymouth, Tiverton Town, Kettering Town, Torquay United

Ed Palmer re-joined the White Tigers in October 2022. The commanding centre half has had a number of successful previous spells with the White Tigers including playing integral roles in our 2015 Play-Off win as well as being part of our historic FA Cup First Round squad. He also had great success with Taunton Town. The club took up the opportunity to extend his stay for another year in May 2023.

James TAYLOR

Age – 21
Position – Defender
Previous Clubs – Bristol City, Bath City, Cheltenham Town.

Young defender James Taylor signed for the club in September 2023 following his release from Championship side Bristol City. The right-back came through the Bristol City Academy and has had experience on loan at both Bath City and Cheltenham Town.

Adam PORTER

Age - 21
Position - Midfielder
Previous Clubs - Stoke City, Altrincham, Ashton United, Salford City.

Midfielder Adam Porter was Paul Wotton’s final signing of the summer joining on a permanent basis following his departure from Salford City. The 21-year-old former Stoke City player spent 5 months on loan at Truro last season where he made 16 appearances scoring 3 goals and picking up 3 assists.


Matt BUSE

Age – 25
Position – Midfielder
Previous Clubs - Bristol City, Gosport Borough, Taunton Town, Gosport Borough, Gloucester City, Torquay United, Bath City, Wealdstone, Weymouth

Matt Buse joined the club in September 2023. The 25-year-old joined the White Tigers with a wealth of experience under his belt. The Yeovil-born player started his career with Bristol City before going on to star for Taunton Town. His performances for the Peacocks earned him a professional contract at Torquay United where again he impressed, winning the National League Player of the Month in 2019. A permanent move to Wealdstone followed before he came closer to home to play for Weymouth.
He departed the Terras in the summer of 2023. He has also represented the likes of Gosport Borough, Gloucester City and Bath City along his journey.

Ryan BRETT

Age – 31
Position – Midfielder
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Plymouth Parkway, Salisbury, Taunton Town.

Midfielder Ryan Brett made the switch back to Truro from Taunton Town in 2020. He started his career with Plymouth Argyle before having great success with Salisbury City. He spent three seasons with Truro before joining Taunton in 2017. He returned to Truro in the summer of 2020 and played a key role in Paul Wotton’s side before the season was curtailed. He signed a new deal with the club in May 2023.

Will DEAN

Age – 23
Position – Midfielder
Previous Clubs – Exeter City, Bath City.

Will Dean joined the club on a permanent basis in 2021 after his release from Exeter City. Having gone through the Grecians Academy setup, Will spent the 2019/20 on loan with the White Tigers where he was voted the Players Player of the Season. He returned the St James Park and made his debut for the first team in September 2020 in a 2-2 draw with Salford City. A loan move to Bath City then followed before he was released by Exeter that summer. There was a lot of interest from higher leagues, but Will chose the White Tigers as the place to play his football.

Billy PALFREY

Age - 25
Position - Midfielder
Previous Clubs - Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Plymouth Parkway.

Billy Palfrey returned to the club from Plymouth Parkway in the summer of 2023. The Cornish-born playmaker signed for the club for a second spell having previously represented the White Tigers between 2017 and 2019. He started his career with Plymouth Argyle and had 4 highly successful seasons at Bolitho Park with Parkway where he achieved two promotions.

Dan ROONEY

Age - 24
Position - Midfielder
Previous Clubs - Plymouth Argyle, Bury, Bath City, Plymouth Parkway.

Dan Rooney was the first new arrival to the squad this summer returning to the club after a season away at Plymouth Parkway. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder joins City for the third time in his career having previously played for Truro initially on loan in 2018 and then on a permanent basis between 2019 and 2022. He started his career with Plymouth Argyle and had brief spells with both Bury and Bath City in 2019.

Daniel SULLIVAN

Age – 28
Position – Midfielder
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Torquay United, Hereford, Bodmin Town, Tavistock, Taunton Town.

Attacking midfielder Dan Sullivan who hails from Plymouth joined the White Tigers in the summer of 2022 after 5 highly successful years with Taunton. He helped the Peacocks gain promotion from both the Southern League Division One South and the Southern League Premier South. He made 160 appearances for the Somerset-based outfit, scoring 55 goals. Sullivan who has had spells with Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United has featured for Truro in the past. He had a short loan period with the club back in 2015 following his departure from Torquay. Prior to his time at Taunton, he represented the likes of Hereford, Bodmin Town, and Tavistock.


Andrew ‘ROCKY’ NEAL

Age – 29
Position – Forward
Previous Clubs – Ivybridge Town, Plymouth Parkway, Tiverton Town, Bodmin Town, Taunton Town.

Rocky Neal returned to the White Tigers in 2020 following his departure from Taunton Town. Having scored 60 goals for Bodmin Town, the striker originally joined Truro in 2016 where he endured two successful seasons before departing in 2018 to join the Somerset club. He netted 36 goals in his debut season for the Peacocks before hitting a further 16 the season after. He continued his goalscoring with City. He struck 20 goals in all competitions in the last two seasons.

Tyler HARVEY

Age – 28
Position – Forward
Previous Clubs – Plymouth Argyle, Salisbury, Wrexham, Bath City.

The livewire front-man re-joined the club after briefly leaving for Bath City in September 2019. Having come through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle the striker made 50 appearances for the Pilgrims before joining Wrexham. He joined the White Tigers in 2017 and has scored some important goals including one at Charlton Athletic in the FA Cup. He scored 25 goals in the National League South before 20 in the Southern League in 2019/20. He was City’s top goal scorer in 2021/22 and 2022/23.

Obed YEBOAH

Age – 19
Position – Forward
Previous Clubs – AFC Wimbledon, Corinthian Casuals

Young striker Obed Yeboah signed for City on a permanent basis following his release from AFC Wimbledon. The 18-year-old came through the ranks of the London-based club and made his professional debut in League 2 back in March. He joined the club after impressing on trial this summer.

Harvey GREENSLADE

Age – 19
Position – Forward
Previous Clubs – Bristol Rovers, Cinderford Town, Tuffley Rangers, Tiverton Town, Chippenham Town

Forward Harvey Greenslade returned to the club for his second loan spell in August 2023. The 19-year-old Bristol Rovers youngster who has had experience with the likes of Tiverton Town, Chippenham Town first joined the club at the end of the 2022/2023 season. He made 15 appearances and scored four times as City secured promotion to the National League South. He agreed terms to return on an initial one-month loan deal in August. This was extended a further month in September.

STAFF

Manager - Paul Wotton

Paul became the clubs, first team manager, in the summer of 2019 after a number of years as assistant manager at Plymouth Argyle. Paul had an impressive playing career with over 500 appearances in the Football League, playing for the likes of Plymouth Argyle, Southampton and Yeovil Town. He has managed the club for over 150 matches now and he is now in his fifth season with the club.

Assistant Manager – Stewart Yetton

Affectionately known as "Yetti", an absolute City Club legend. Originally from across the Tamar and Plymouth where he began his career in 2003 with Argyle. He first joined City in 2005 and became a prolific goal scorer with 200 goals by early 2010. In the 2006-07 season he scored he scored 72 goals including 6 in one match. In 2013 he joined Weymouth then having spells with Plymouth Parkway and Tiverton Town, but he was never far away from City and at the start of the 2019-20 season, Yetti once again re-joined City as player and assistant manager.

Goalkeeper Coach – Deba Sidhu

Deba was born in the Punjab region of India. Since living in England, he has achieved an Engineering degree and a Mathematics degree while playing non-league football in Birmingham. By day, he is an A Level Maths lecturer at Truro and Penwith College. He joined Truro City FC in 2005 as a goalkeeping coach and feels fortunate to have been part of the Truro City team that has won six promotions, two Cornwall Senior cups, an FA Vase at New Wembley as well as reaching the FA Cup first round for the first time in the club’s history. Since October 2018 Deba has also taken on the role of club secretary.

Physiotherapist – Ian Leigh

Born in Plymouth, Ian spent 7 years with Plymouth Argyle as Academy and Reserve Physiotherapist before joining TCFC back in 2007. He returned to Argyle for a year in 2010, before coming back to Truro 12 months later where he spent a further 9 years before he stepped down from the role in 2020. Ian is a Chartered Physiotherapist, and he runs his own sports injury clinic in Newquay. Ian replaces the outgoing Ryan Jones who steps down from the position after 2 seasons due to work commitments.
