City were unable to build on an early goal as they suffered their ninth home Calor League premier defeat of the season at a chilly Treyew Road.

Match report from the West Briton's Rhod Mitchell

Shane White’s second goal of the season after only seven minutes had given City the perfect start against a Hungerford team chasing a sixth straight win.

But an own goal by keeper Grant Fisher just before half time got the Berkshire side back on level terms and Stefan Brown scored the winner with 16 minutes left when he ran on to score, with City appealing in vain for offside.

It was tough on the home side, who produced some of their best football for some time, but again ended up with nothing to show for their efforts.

Tigers boss Steve Tully made three changes for the game from the side that started the 4-1 defeat at Cambridge City with Jamie Lowry, Arran Pugh and Neil Slateford all starting, in place of Jordan Copp, Joe Broad (injured) and Monty Berrow.

Truro began the game well and quickly went ahead when Afful’s cross from the left fell kindly for White to scored from close range.

And the home side went on to have the better of much of the half, but were unable to find a crucial second goal.

But they looked to be going into half time still ahead until an error by Fisher saw him fumble a James Clark corner into his own net.

In the second period, with the wind in their favour, the visitors began strongly with Fisher saving from Alan O’Brien.

At the other end Afful was brought down in full flight on the edge of the area by Matt Day, with City’s claims for a penalty waved away by referee Steve Annis, who instead booked the defender and awarded a free kick right on the edge of the box.

City soon fell behind when Brown looked well offside as he ran onto a flick and rounded Fisher before finding the empty net.

And despite a frantic spell of late pressure the home team were unable to find what would have been a deserved equaliser.

They are next in action at home to Chippenham Town on Saturday
