Two in a row for City

Based on a report from Burnham FC

Manager Rob Mallinson still seeks his first win as Blues supremo but had Burnham not squandered first half chances to score and then be reduced to ten men after 57 minutes it could quite well have been a different story.

Burnham had two glorious chances in the opening minute, firstly the upright was hit and then Tom Willment headed just wide of an open goal. A great shot out on the right from Aaron Couch beat keeper Ollie Chenoweth but came back into play off an upright.

The first goal came on 20 minutes, a long ball out of defence found NICKE KEBAMBA turn his marker and fire past Chenoweth.

Couch was seeing plenty of the ball and a cross from the left failed to find a willing taker in the penalty area and then he broke clear again down the left but found the side netting. City gradually came more into the game and forced a couple of corners with Willment getting back to make a saving tackle on Ben Watson, while Blues keeper Jamie Jackson came out to smother the ball as Liam Eddy threatened.

City drew level on 43 minutes when a corner taken on City's right was handled by John Munday in the penalty area. STEVE TULLY gave Jackson no chance from the spot. Couch had another good chance to put the home side ahead but he fluffed the chance after well delivered cross from Miles Hippolyte.

The second half became very scrappy and Burnham down to ten men after 57 minutes when Lewis Driver was dismissed for a second yellow.

The Blues case was further hindered on 67 minutes when influential skipper Willment had to leave the field having taken an earlier knock. What proved to be the winning goal came about in the 80th minute after a good build up CODY COOKE fired in from close in. City had to clear their lines with two minutes to go as Burnham pressed for an equaliser but they held on for the three points
