For City it was a tired looking performance which manager Steve Tully summed up by saying : "We started poorly and it continued. The first 20 minutes we were outmuscled, outfought and outgunned! We struggled from start to finish today."
Even despite City going one nil up through skipper Paul Kendall in the 26th minute, Tulls still had doubts : "It wasn't a true reflection of the game."
It was a lead however only kept for two minutes as Cornish born Lee Phillips turned in a right wing cross from a lively looking Joe McClennan for the visitors' equaliser.
Les Afful and Cody Cooke had efforts go wide later in the first half, but the game was wrapped up for Chippenham early after the half time break.
On 50 minutes Cory King made the most of some poor judgement and miss-control by Jamie Lowry to run in and slot the ball wide of Grant Fisher, while six minutes later the points were heading back up the M5 when Fisher made a wrong decision allowing the Bluebirds skipper and top scorer Alan Griffin to knock in his 18th league goal of the campaign.
An ugly game got even worse for the 341 attendance when ex-pro Phillips was shown his first ever red card just past the hour, but it was destined to be a game where we were never going to be able to take any advantage of an extra man in any case, confirmed by Tulls : "We never really had a spell where we were on top."
Chippenham had a second player red carded when Bryan Smith left the action but with this in the 4th minute of stoppage time, the game was already over.
The last word from Tulls as we move onto the next match : "It's a massive game Tuesday, a local derby. I've got connections with Weymouth and hopefully we'll get a big crowd. It's everything to look forward to and we go again."
