City found promotion-chasing Cambridge City just too strong for them, with a late Dan Green goal their only consolation for a strong finish to the game.
But City boss Steve Tully said his side would learn from the defeat and “go again” at home to Hungerford Town on Tuesday evening.
“In the first half we were outmuscled all over the pitch and to concede a second right on half time put the game beyond us,” he said.
“We did not really start playing until we were 4-0 down and against teams like this we have got to be at it from the first minute.”
The home side went ahead after 13 minutes when prolific top scorer Adam Marriott scored from close range after his first shot was blocked.
And that was how it stayed until stoppage time when Josh Beech provided a clinical finish to double the home side’s lead.
It got worse for the visitors after 63 minutes, when a cross by Josh Dawkins found the net off the head of a Truro defender.
Four minutes later it became 4-0, when Will Lawton netted from the edge of the area with a fine finish from the edge of the area.
To their credit Truro finished the game well, with Green rounding off a good move with 13 minutes left.
But it was too little too late for City who also suffered a blow with the news that Joe Broad is unlikely to pay again this season after being substituted in the first half when his hamstring problem flared up again.
However, there was a welcome return to first team action for Neil Slateford who came on as a second half substitute after being injured at Bideford on Boxing Day.
