An upbeat player/Manager Steve Tully loved his first game in charge and now moves on to "putting it right"

From the Poole Town website, Match report: Jack Amey:
Carl Preston’s 15th-minute 20-yard strike secured a vital three points for Poole Town in their hunt for a play-off place.

Despite pressure from Truro City, excellent saves from Dan Thomas ensured the three points stayed at Tatnam.

Thomas was called into action early on when Truro attacked the Dolphins’ goal after just eight minutes, but the former AFC Bournemouth goalkeeper started his man-of-the-match performance as he intended to go on.

But it was Poole who broke the deadlock.

Marvin Brooks was played in but, despite the defence taking control of the situation, Brooks applied pressure which led to a botched clearance and for Carl Preston to smash the ball past Grant Fisher.

And while Mickey Purcell’s play enabled a cross to be put across the Poole penalty box, it amounted to nothing.

Truro came out of the second half the rejuvenated side. First Dan Green tested the Poole defence with a shot, before Jamie Lowry’s free-kick was saved by Thomas comfortably.

But Thomas’ man-of-the-match nearly ended there.

Making a decision to come out and get the ball, he was rounded before he brought down Liam Eddy.

Luckily for Thomas – and Poole – it was given as a free-kick and not deemed a goal-scoring opportunity.

And while the Dolphins came close to giving themselves a two-goal lead, they could not take the few chances when they came.

Poole Town: Thomas, Muleba, Spetch (c), Martin, Whisken; Pettefer (Dibba), Burbidge, Devlin, Preston (Elliott), Brooks; Charles (Davies). Unused subs: Hutchings, Gillespie.

Truro City: Fisher, Purcell, Daw, Kendall (c), White; Brokenshire (Copp), Green, Lowry, Watson (Eddy); Berrow (Ash), Cooke. Unused subs: Pugh, Chenoweth
