Two more names added to the White Tigers league goalscorers list this season

This well deserved win takes City back into the top half of the table as Olly Brokenshire and Aaron Pugh notched their first league goals of the season.

With Manager Steve Massey forced to replace the suspended Joe Broad and Jamie Lowry in midfield, he also decided to rest Les Afful and Neil Slateford from last week’s impressive performance. Warren Daw returned from his long injury lay off, playing left back and making it look as if he had never been out. Shane White once again showed his versatility, moving into the middle of the park, partnering Brokenshire, with Jordan Copp back out on the left, leaving only Cody Cooke present from the midfield who matched Chesham seven days earlier. Meanwhile there was also a tactical change upfront with a fully fit Ben Watson partnering Liam Eddy.

With Frome starting the brighter of the two sides, Truro suffered another set-back when Steve Tully aggravated a calf injury and within five minutes of the start was replaced by Dan Evans.

The White Tigers quickly pulled themselves back into the contest with skipper Paul Kendall forcing a good save out of the home side’s ‘keeper Darren Chitty, while Eddy was close to getting on the end of a Watson cross.

At the other end of the pitch Ben Wood got far enough away from Kendall to test Ollie Chenoweth with a shot from the edge of the penalty area, but a minute later and approaching midway of the first half, Brokenshire got on the end of White’s free-kick and found the corner of the Frome net.

Four minutes later, it got worse for a Frome side still looking for their first home win of the season, when Kurt Hammonds was immediately shown the referee Chris Wade’s red card for a late tackle on Cooke.

Five minutes before the break, City took advantage of the central defender’s dismissal, when Aaron Pugh headed home (pictured) Brokenshire’s corner and surely give the visitors an unassailable lead.

Eddy probably had City’s best second half chance to secure the maximum points when in the 65th minute, put away by Watson, the young Helston based striker was foiled by a brave Chitty who came off his line and kept his side in the game as a minute later team-mate Matt Smith headed in to reduce the visitors lead.

Despite the last quarter of the match seeing both sides go close to adding to the score-line, City worked hard to ensure another win on the road, their fourth out of seven, before they embark on another on Tuesday to Chippenham.
