The White Tigers came into the match on the back of five straight league defeats and started the day 10 points adrift of their opponents.
Paul Kendall and Les Afful both returned to the starting line up, with Dan Evans and Neil Slateford joining Jared Sims, Olly Brokenshire and Liam Eddy on the subs bench.
After a fairly uneventful first half, the game came to life on 57 minutes when a long ball hit forward allowed Banbury's Kynan Isaac to volley home from 15 yards.
This never phased City though and when Slateford (on for Matt Andrew in the first-half) pulled the game back all-square with an equaliser in the 78th minute, the home side could have no complaints. The goal involved another sub as Olly Brokenshire started the move by clipping the ball over the Banbury defence to Ben Watson who laid it off to Slateford to hit it, right footed, over the opposing 'keeper.
The goal was thoroughly deserved with City showing lots of character and a never say die attitude in a performance where they kept possession and defended solidly when necessary.
The winner came from another substitute, Liam Eddy (pictured), who wrapped the game up for the White Tigers with a well-taken solo goal in the 87th minute. The former SWPL Division One West striker picked up a loose ball, beat two men and hit it across goal and inside the post for a sweet finish.
Overall it was a merited win on the day and left City's travelling fans more than happy.
