White Tigers win on home soil...
THE WHITE Tigers secured a good 2-0 victory over Eastbourne Borough on a crisp Cornish afternoon.
We started off on the right foot with a goal after just six minutes when a corner from Connor Riley-Lowe was only half-cleared and as Nick Hurst kept the ball alive, his cross found Riley-Lowe who made no mistake.
With our tails up, Tyler Harvey saw a header well saved shortly afterwards before a free-kick from Riley-Lowe caused problems for the visitors’ defence, but they managed to scramble clear under pressure.
We were looking good value for our lead as Niall Thompson did well to evade a couple of challenges before firing over as he close in on goal.
Some good link-up play between Michael Herve and Jared Lewington ended with the latter rattling the woodwork.
Right at the end of the opening period, Thompson saw a cross-come-shot well dealt with by the ‘keeper.
We were good value for our lead and we started the second period in positive mood as Thompson’s cross picked out Hurst who went close with a header.
There was another opening for Hurst in the next attack but he failed to take advantage after some good work from Herve in the build-up.
Despite looking the most likely side, we had to be wary of our visitors on the break and Harvey Rivers saved well just before the hour.
Another teasing free-kick from Riley-Lowe was headed just over by Jamie Richards before our visitors started to build up a head of steam as the clicked ticked down as they searched for a way back into the game.
It meant that we had to work hard to keep them at bay, but our efforts were rewarded when we grabbed a second goal with around ten minutes to go as Herve found the net to give us some breathing space.
We saw the remainder of the game out to claim a hard-earned and deserved three points.
