THE WHITE Tigers were sunk by two early goals as we slipped to a 2-1 reverse at Chippenham Town.
We created a couple of half-chances in the opening exchanges as Riley-Lowe’s cross just evaded Hurst, whilst Lewington put an effort wide.
It wasn’t long before the home side seized the initiative when an inviting cross found the head of Nat Jarvis who managed to guide the ball into the net.
Within a minute the home side had doubled their advantage and it was Jarvis who notched the goal again as he was played through and he stayed calm to slot home.
We were left shell-shocked but we refused to let our heads drop and a neat passage of play ended with Hurst firing into the side-netting.
A header from Harvey was dragged wide before the home side missed a great chance to further extend their lead as we looked nervy in defence.
Some good endeavour from Rooney ended with him putting in a teasing ball for Lewington who just failed to capitalise.
Right on the stroke of half-time Hurst was denied by a smart save from the home ‘keeper as we went in at the break two goals behind.
Both sides struggled to make an impact at the start of the second half, although we started to see more of the ball as Herve went close with a header and Lewington fired straight at the ‘keeper.
We were looking the more likely side as the clock ticked down. Hurst’s pull-back into the path of Harvey saw our top scorer fail to get the necessary power on his effort.
The goal that we had threatened came on 82 minutes when Jamie Richards was able to get his name on the scoresheet to set up a frantic finale.
As we pressed, we found our hosts in resolute and stubborn mood as they held on to their lead and claimed all three points.
