WHITE TIGERS FAIL TO FIND WINGS AT CONCORD
3-0 defeat in the September sunshine...
THE WHITE Tigers fell to a 3-0 defeat at Concord Rangers.
The game got underway in the late September sunshine as we looked to bounce back from Emirates FA Cup disappointment in our last game.
There was a yellow card for Ben Gerring in the early exchanges as his foul gave the home side a free-kick in a promising position but the defensive wall did its job.
We fell behind with just over ten minutes to go until the break when Jack Midson looked to make progress under pressure from Ed Palmer and the ball fell into the path of Alex Wall in space and he made no mistake.
It was developing into a physical game with both sides determined. We managed to put together so neat passages of play but were restricted to half-chances as we went in at the break a goal down.
The second period started with the home side on top and Jojo Wollacott had to be alert to clear a loose back-pass before he was beaten Aron Pollock just past the hour.
A two-goal deficit soon became three as Midson was brought down inside the area and he picked himself up to fire home.
It gave us a mountain to climb and we had Wollacott to thank on a couple of occasions for smart saves.
As the clock ticked down, an inviting corner found the head of Gerring whose effort rattled the woodwork.
It was to be the closest we came to reducing the arrears as our hosts played out the closing stages to claim all three points.
