THE WHITE Tigers slipped to a 3-2 defeat at the hands of Hungerford Town despite taking an early lead.
We made the perfect start with just two minutes on the clock when Jon-Paul Pittman found the net to put us in front with our first raid on goal.
Our opponents looked to hit back straight away as a header dipped just over before they levelled matters on 11 minutes when Charlie Ten-Grotenhuis turned the ball home.
Both sides went close to adding to their tally as the half went on. We created the better opportunities whilst our visitors saw more of the ball without managing to break through our back-line.
The scores were level going into the second period and it was our opponents who got their noses in front just past the hour when Ten-Grotenhuis bagged his second of the afternoon.
Things got worse five minutes later when we fell further behind as Ten-Grotenhuis completed his hat-trick to make it 3-1.
To our credit, we refused to let our heads drop and we soon reduced the arrears, albeit with the aid of a goalkeeping error, but it made for an exciting ending to the game as we pushed for an equaliser.
In the end we gave ourselves too much to do as we fell to defeat.
