Defeat at high-flying Woking...

THE WHITE Tigers let a half-time lead slip to go down to a 3-1 defeat at high-flying Woking.
It was the home side who came out of the blocks with purpose and they almost grabbed the lead within the opening couple of minutes when Josh Casey did well before lifting the ball over Jojo Woollacott and just wide.
We managed to grab the lead with our first telling raid when we forced a corner which was then delivered to the far post where Jamie Richards found space to head the ball home.
The goal gave us a real boost and we started to get a foothold in the game with some neat football and we almost doubled our advantage when Tyler Harvey was picked out and his strike draw a smart save from the home ‘keeper.
We were working hard for each other and forcing our hosts into mistakes as we preserved our lead going into the break.
The home side were out early for the second half and made a couple of changes as they looked for a way back into proceedings.
It didn’t take them long to apply the pressure as we had to defend resolutely at the start of the second period to keep them at bay.
Long-range efforts from Little and Casey flew wide whilst Woollacott did well to save from Hodges.
Our resistence was finally broken just past the hour when Ferdinand managed to bundle the ball home from a free-kick which was delivered invitingly into the danger zone and then within three minutes a cross was headed home by Cook to give Woollacott no chance despite his best efforts.
It knocked the stuffing out of us but we refused to let our heads drop and kept battling away in search of a leveller.
That was until the 77th minute when Kretzschmar got in a teasing cross that found Cook and he was able to guide the ball home for his second of the afternoon and Woking’s third.
Woollacott was having a great game in The White Tigers’ goal and he went on to make several fine saves late on, including a penalty stop, as we came home with nothing to show for our efforts.
WHITE TIGERS: Woollacott, Riley-Lowe, Palmer, Booth, Hartridge, Palfrey, Thompson, Gardner (Copp), J. Richards, Harvey, Lewington (Rooney). Subs not used: Bignot, Smallcombe, Pittman.
