THE WHITE Tigers slipped to a 4-0 home reverse at the hands of Billericay Town on the opening day of the 2018/19 season.
It was our first game at our new temporary home of Plainmoor, and we were under pressure right from the start as our visitors began with purpose.
The opening exchanges saw Jojo Woollacott forced into smart saves to deny Jake Robinson and Adam Coombes but he was beaten with just four minutes on the clock when an inviting cross from Callum Kennedy was flicked into the next by last season's top scorer Robinson.
We had a lucky escape when Coombes hit the woodwork as the pressure continued and then Woollacott did well to thwart Ricky Modeste's header which was destined for the back of the net.
In the heat, the second goal that our visitors had threatened arrived on 21 minutes when Joe Kizzi's cross found Robinson unmarked and he was able to direct his header beyond the reach of Woollacott.
Trailing by two goals at the start of the second half, we started with a better tempo but we failed to hurt our opponents who were able to kill the game off when Robinson completed his hat-trick on 65 minutes.
There was no way back and our misery was complete three minutes later when a loose ball in defence was seized upon by Robinson who made no mistake to make it 4-0 and that is how it remained.
