Chelmsford City 2 Truro City 0 (26.08.2017)
Defeat for The White Tigers...
THE WHITE Tigers slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the much-fancied Chelmsford City.
It was the home side who threatened first when Micheal Spillane headed over before Tom McHale did well to deny Scott Davies.
We were finding the early going tough and Dickson went close on a couple of occasions for the home side before our first chance fell to Rocky Neal who made room for a strike but his effort lacked the necessary power to trouble the ‘keeper.
A teasing cross from Johnson was met with an overhead-kick from Dickson but McHale was equal to it.
At the other end, a free kick from Ed Palmer was tipped over by Sam Beasant and then a loose clearance from the home side presented Cody Cooke with a chance that he failed to capitalise upon.
The Clarets finally went ahead on the hour-mark when a corner was met by a towering header from Johnson which gave McHale no chance.
Boosted by the goal, the home side continued to press and McHale had to be alert to thwart Lee Barnard who managed to get in a low effort.
The all-important second goal did arrive when Anthony Church pulled the ball back into the path of the lively Dickson who was able to guide the ball home beyond McHale.
There was a late chance for Shaun Batt as McHale produced another smart stop, but The White Tigers were unable to trouble the home side who ran out 2-0 winners.
