MATCH REPORT - Truro City 0 Maidenhead United 3 - 17/04/2017
THE WHITE Tigers were well beaten at Treyew Road as League leaders, Maidenhead United, went home with a 3-0 victory.
It took just four minutes for our visitors to get their noses in front as Sean Marks found the net.
There were loud appeals for a Truro City penalty waved away by the referee following a clumsy challenge inside the area.
It was a let-off for the visitors and they took full advantage by doubling their advantage on 24 minutes as Marks was on the mark again for his second of the afternoon.
It gave The White Tigers a real mountain to climb but we refused to let our heads drop and almost reduced the arrears just before the hour-mark when Aaron Bentley’s initial header was blocked and then as the ball was returned into the danger zone, the ‘keeper once more thwarted Bentley with another desperate block.
Soon afterwards there were more shouts for a penalty as Aaran Pugh appeared to be pushed as he went for a header, but once more, nothing was given.
At this stage Truro City were on top and looking bright. With 65 minutes on the clock, we finally did when a penalty when Niall Thompson was brought down but Rocky Neal saw his spot-kick saved.
It knocked the stuffing out of us in fairness and with just over quarter-of-an-hour to go, Jordan Cox made the game safe for the visitors with a third goal.
The remainder of the game petered out as it was job done for Maidenhead United as The White Tigers failed to make any further inroads.
