It was a bright start from Lee Hodges’ side and we almost took an early lead when a corner was met by a towering near-post header by Arran Pugh that flew just wide.
At the other end, Luke Roberts saw an effort tipped over by returning goalkeeper, Tom McHale and then Steve Devlin rattled the woodwork.
Despite our early endeavours, it was the home side who took the lead when Luke Roberts found the net in the 25th minute as he beat McHale.
After Aaron Bentley was booked for a foul, worse was soon to follow when the home side managed to double their advantage with Marvin Brooks getting his name onto the scoresheet as he headed home a Devlin free-kick.
It was a big blow for City as we made a double change at the break with Cody Cooke and Niall Thompson unleashed as we searched for a way back into proceedings.
The changes gave us more of a threat going forward but we failed to breach the Poole Town back-line and even with Stewart Yetton on as the clock ticked down, that elusive goal wouldn’t arrive.
It was a much better performance by Truro in the second half as we restricted the home side to very few opportunities, although Granger did strike the post from a free-kick.
In the end we were left to reflect upon another away day defeat.
