We made the perfect start by taking a third minute lead when an inviting cross from Niall Thompson was forced home at the far post by Ryan Brett.
The lead was doubled on the quarter-hour mark when a cross from Brett found Rocky Neal who was initially denied by Tyrell Belford but the in-form front-man was alert to head home the rebound.
It was Truro who were asking all of the questions during the opening period with our visitors’ only opportunity falling to Scott Davies who was denied by a smart save from Martin Rice.
Our third goal arrived seven minutes into the second period when River Allen fed Neal who did well before getting the ball into the area where Dan Smith was on hand to find the net.
The goal acted to bring our visitors to life and after they brought on all three substitutes, one of them, Shaun Maculey, reduced the arrears when his deft header from a cross from fellow substitute, Michael Fondop, beat the despairing dive of Rice.
Truro had to soak up some pressure as the visitors chased another goal and we held out until the final minute when Fondop headed home Matt Peake-Pijen’s free-kick to make it 3-2.
It meant that we had to stand firm during stoppage time as Oxford searched for a leveller, but in the end we held out to claim a vital three points.
