It was a positive start to the game from Lee Hodges’ side in front of a Boxing Day crowd of over 500.
The best chance in the opening exchanges fell to Rocky Neal after a free-kick from Ryan Brett was pushed out by the home ‘keeper and Neal was alive to the rebound only for the ‘keeper to manage to block his close-range effort.
It was a let-off for the visitors but their luck ran out on 37 minutes when a corner from Zane Sole wasn’t properly cleared and as the ball fell at the feet of Neal, he made no mistake this time from six yards for his fourth goal in five games.
We were good value for our lead and looked comfortable until right at the end of the first half a corner saw Brad Ash arrive unmarked into the danger zone and he was able to plant the ball home from close range to level matters.
The goal gave our visitors a big lift at the start of the second period and they started on the front-foot and with purpose.
They went ahead on 56 minutes when a free-kick from Grubb was well saved by Martin Rice but as the ball fell loose, Gethyn Hill was the quickest to react as he turned the ball home.
With their tails up, The Seagulls almost extended their lead soon afterwards when Jacob Cane got in a strike that was well kept out by Rice.
More brave defending was required from Truro as our opponents pushed on in search of the clinched third goal.
Having weathered the storm, we mounted something of a late rally with a free-kick from Brett finding the head of Arran Pugh whose towering header landed over. There were further half-chances before the final whistle signalled another disappointing home reverse.
