It was the visitors who had the first chance of the game when Femi Akinwande got in a strike that required a smart save from Martin Rice.
As the half went on, we started to get into our stride and look the most likely side.
The opening goal duly arrived just past the half-hour when a loose ball from the visitors was seized upon by the alert Niall Thompson who in turn threaded through Rocky Neal and he coolly slotted the ball home.
Our lead only lasted for seven minutes when Aaron Bentley was penalised for holding inside the area and Bishop’s Stortford new-boy, Dean Morgan, stepped up to find the net from the spot despite the best efforts of Rice to keep it out.
With the game becoming something of a scrappy affair in the early exchanges of the second period, it was the visitors who snatched the lead when a low ball into the danger zone from Aaron Green was turned into his own net by the unfortunate Bentley.
As we pushed for a leveller, we found our opponents in stubborn mood as they thwarted our attempts to get forward and make something happen.
There was a late chance for top scorer, Thompson, who managed to get in a strike that flew just wide and with it went our chance of taking anything from this game.
So, the winning run comes to an end... time to start another one.
