MATCH REPORT - Whitehawk 2 Truro City 4 - 08/11/2016

It was a positive start from City and we were rewarded for our early endeavours when Niall Thompson found the net with 11 minutes on the clock.
As the first half progressed, we continued to work hard for each other to keep our hosts at bay and right on the stroke of half-time we were able to double our advantage as Thompson notched his second of the evening.
It meant that we went in at the break with a real spring in our step and we continued to display plenty of endeavour and commitment during the second period.
The next goal was always going to be key and it went to City as Les Afful managed to guide the ball home and put us three goals to the good.
Credit to Whitehawk because they refused to let their heads drop and they managed to reduce the arrears with quarter-of-an-hour left to play as City failed to clear their lines and the home side were able to scramble home.
Less than five minutes later it was 4-1 as that man Niall Thompson claimed his hat-trick and the three points as he lashed the ball into the back of the net.
There was still time for our hosts to grab a late consolation goal but it mattered not as we brought home all three points courtesy of a richly-deserved 4-2 success.
It was a night when the players and travelling supporters can be extremely proud of themselves.
