They still have six games left, four of which are at home, and are now strong favourites for a play-off promotion place with other results today going their way.

They moved two points ahead of Weymouth who lost 1-0 at Paulton Rovers, with Corby Town replacing Poole Town at the top after their 1-0 win at Redditch Utd, as the Dorset side lost 2-1 at home to Bideford.

In April, City meet Redditch, Weymouth and Corby in the space of eight days, which will go along way to deciding their final placing.

The visitors got off to a dream start when Isaac Vassell, put them ahead after six minutes when he finished well after rounding the home keeper Kent Kauppinen after being put clear by Shane Krac's pass.

And with 19 minutes left, Shane White doubled their advantage from the penalty spot after substitute Craig Duff had been brought down by home keeper Kauppinen, who was yellow carded.

Alex Ferguson did pull back a stoppage time goal for the visitors, but it came too late to matter as City clinched another big three points towards their promotion play-off ambitions.

And it was a result and performance which delighted City boss Steve Tully, who had named an unchanged side for a third successive game.

He said: "It was a real man's game of physical , strong football and we stood up to it. The results have gone our way today and we have just got to keep going. We deserved the win."
