Truro City move up into play off places after home win over Frome Town by Rhod Mitchell, West Briton.

Truro City 2 Frome Town 1

City moved up to fifth place in the Southern League premier division with a hard fought win over their Somerset visitors on Tuesday evening.

Two second half goals by Craig Duff, the second a penalty, looked to have wrapped up the match for the home side with just over an hour gone, but some poor defending allowed Aaron Rodriguez to pull a goal back 12 minutes from time to give the visitors a lifeline.

However, City managed to hang on for a crucial win in the first of three successive home matches which they hope will see them consolidate a place in the play-off positions.

The first half was a scrappy affair devoid of any real chances, with Duff coming closest for the home side with a long range shot and header from Jamie Lowry's corner, while Kyle Moore in the home goal was never seriously tested.

But after the break, City came out with much more intensity and took the game to the visitors, with Frome keeper Darren Chitty denying Cody Cooke at close range, but they had a let off when Rodriguez sliced wide with just Moore to beat.

The breakthrough came after 52 minutes when Duff followed up to score, after Chitty could only parry a shot from Isaac Vassell into his path.

And when Duff was brought down from behind ten minutes later for a penalty, which he converted himself, it looked game over.

But City being City , were unable to win without giving their fans a nervy finish as a mistake by Lowry allowed Rodriguez to fire home from the edge of the area.

City then had chances to make the game safe, but were unable to kill the game off and survived the odd scary moment before collecting the three points for their third win in four unbeaten matches and they will be hoping to extend that good run when Slough Town are the visitors to Treyew Road on Saturday.
