Truro City denied piece of club history as they concede stoppage time equaliser (by Rhod Mitchell, West Briton)

Truro City 2 Cirencester Town 2

City threw away a 2-0 lead as they were denied a place in the second round of the FA Trophy for the first time by a stoppage time equaliser.

The home side looked on course to reach the last 32, when two goals in the final five minutes of the first half by Isaac Vassell and skipper Arran Pugh, put them seemingly in command.

But the Gloucestershire visitors hit back with a 65th penalty from Zak Kotwica, with substitute Jamie Reid earning his side a replay on Tuesday evening when his speculative effort from side on the right found the far corner of Martin Rice's net.

It means City's scheduled home National league South game against Hemel Hempstead which was due to be played on Tuesday will now have to be played at a later date,

Steve Tully made three changes for the game with Shane White, Arran Pugh and Isaac Vassell coming in for Pierce Mitchell, Jake Ash and Les Afful.

The opening 40 minutes produced little in the way of action with Vassell looking the likeliest scorer forcing a couple of smart saves from Glyn Garner in the visitors' goal.

And it was Vassell who broke the deadlock when his persistence took him into the area and despite looking to have been fouled by Ellis Dunton sttll found the net despite being knocked to the ground.

City then doubled their advantage in the first minute of stoppage time when Pugh headed home Ryan Brett's right wing corner.

But the home side were unable to kill off the battling visitors , missing several good chances to put the game to bed.

And the Southern League premier division outfit were then given a lifeline when Ash, immediately after coming on for Cody Cooke, was adjudged to have pushed Dunton ata free -kick and Kotwica gave Rice no chance from the spot kick.

This gave Cirencester hope and City had to defend desperately at times but seem to have weathered the storm before Reid's unlikely equaliser meant an unwelcome trip up the M5 on Tuesday evening
