City beaten by Plymouth Parkway in final pre season match (by Rhod Mitchell)

City suffered a disappointing defeat in their last pre-season game before opening their National League South campaign at Margate on Saturday.

Headers by Kelvin Fyneboy and John Heveran, sandwiched a Les Afful penalty, to give the Carlsberg SWPL premier division visitors a shock win, but one they deserved on the night.

Parkway were up for the game from the start, with prolific striker Levi Landricombe wasting a glorious early chance when he shot wide, with only Tom McHale to beat in the home goal.

Truro's biggest threat came from long range strikes by Cody Cooke, but Martin Piper in the Parkway goal was equal to them.

And just before half time Piper turned an Arran Pugh header onto the underside of the bar and then saved well from Craig Duff's powerful header.

Parkway went ahead at the start of the second period, with Fyneboy heading home from a corner as the Truro defence gave him too much space.

But the lead was short-lived as Afful levelled from the spot five minutes later, after Piper had felled Eastleigh trialist Tony Lee.

Both sides made several changes, before Parkway scored what proved to be the winner nine minutes from time, when slack City marking allowed Heveran to easily head home a free-kick from the left.

Truro tried to find an equaliser in the dying minutes, but the visitors held firm without too many problems for a win which augurs well for their season which starts at home to Godolphin Atlantic on Friday evening.
