Truro put in a comfortable performance against a spirited Exmouth side. The home side rarely bothered the visiting keepers though Tom McHale was stretched on two occasions and made fine saves. Otherwise play was mostly in City's favour.
The first goal came on 29 mins when Cooke drove a testing cross from the right. Vassell naturally slotted it away from close range. On the stroke of half time, new signing Aaron Dawson put in a delightful cross for Matt Wright to make it two nil.
Matt Wright got his second just after the second half started with yet another great cross and link up play from Shane Krac.
On the hour mark, Steve Tully made wholesale changes to the line up and brought in new trialist Josh Southway, a 20 year old ex Bristol Rovers right wing back, come centre forward. Southway got himself quickly in to the game with three shots on target. His goal came on the 87th minute when the industrious Afful placed a delightful cross for Southway to nod in the back of the net.
New signing Connor Riley-Lowe will settle in to the team easily and fans will aliken him to Danny Greenslade's style of play, (ie, up and down the left wing). Ryan Brett had an assured game in the middle of the park and linked well with Krac and Dawson.
Young Mason Hughes, another trialist from the Argyle academy put in a decent shift on the right wing.
Tully was pleased with the performance and continues with getting his team match fit.
Next up will be a sterner test in the first half of the Torquay Utd game this Saturday.
