City ready for the Yeovil test tonight (by Rhod Mitchell, West Briton)

AFTER two relatively low key friendlies, Truro City move their pre-season campaign up a notch when they take on Paul Sturrock's Yeovil Town at Treyew Road on Friday evening (7.45pm).

On Tuesday, City made it two wins out of two as they eased to a 2-0 victory at Tavistock, with goals from Isaac Vassell and young trialist Will Summerfield (ex MK Dons).

It followed their 5-1 success at Witheridge on Saturday, when two goals from Matt Wright, a stunning strike from Cody Cooke, an own goal and a Shane White penalty eased City home.

Now the SkyBet League 2 club will be City's next opponents in their first home game since Steve Tully's side won promotion from the Southern League's premier division with that 1-0 play-off win over St Neots Town at the beginning of May.

Tully said: "The Yeovil game will be a step up for us. The first two games have been just what we wanted. They have been good for the lads, it is all about the fitness.

"We had a good game against Yeovil last season (City lost 2-1) and it will be a good test. I will name a strong team to start with, but most people will play some part."

"We have a big week coming up as we build up to the new season."

Tully said there would be plenty more trialists involved over the next couple of weeks, as he looked to finalise his squad before their Vanarama National League South opener at Margate on August 8.

The deal to bring in left back Conor Riley-Low on loan from Exeter City is almost finalised, but Tully said any lingering hopes of re-signing club record scorer Stewart Yetton looked to be "dead in the water" with the player expected to sign a new deal at Weymouth.

"It is a pity as he would have been an asset for us, but I am still looking for another forward."

New signing Martin Rice started in goal, while trialists Mason Hughes (ex-Plymouth Argyle), Simon Morgan (ex-Newport County) and Summerfield (ex-MK Dons) were also named in the starting line-up.

New signing Aaron Dawson started on the bench but played the full 90 minutes at Tavistock.

For the Yeovil match the turnstiles open at 6pm. Adults £8, concessions £6, U16s £3 and U16a with an adult free.

On Tuesday, City travel to Falmouth Town for their annual Aubrey Wilkes Trophy game (7.45pm).

Then on Thursday they are at Exmouth Town followed by Torquay United at Treyew Road for the Jake Ash Testimonial game (3pm) on Saturday July 25.
