Bridgwater Town 1 Truro City 5
Craig Duff and Isaac Vassell scored two goals apiece as Truro swept aside Bridgwater at Fairfax Park tonight in the Red Insure Cup second round.
The tie was all but over inside the first half hour as in-form City raced into a four-goal lead.
Duff opened the scoring in the 13th minute and it was 2-0 six minutes later when man of the match Barry Hayles finished from close range.
Vassell's excellent low shot from 15 yards increased City's lead after 23 minutes and Duff produced a scorching shot from 25 yards to make it 4-0 in the 27th minute.
City completed their scoring in the 57th minute with Vassell's cheeky flick from six yards ending up in the net and although Bridgwater pulled a goal back on the hour, there was no way back for the home side.
Player-manager Steve Tully said: "The lads played really well, especially in the first half, and the tie was done and dusted by half-time really.
"Our plan was to get at them early in the game and the goals came at good times for us.
"We faded a little in the second half but we looked comfortable and won with something to spare in the end."
Tully handed a first senior start to young Kieron Parker, who set up Hayles' goal, while Les Afful made his 250th appearance for the club.
