STEWART YETTON TAKES ON MILLION METRE CHALLENGE

Cameron Weldon

Player Assistant Manager Stewart Yetton will be participating in the ‘A Million Metre’ challenge fundraiser across the course of April.

Supasport SW C.I.C in partnership with Truro City Football Club and the Cornish Pirates have organised this fundraising campaign on behalf and in partnership with the Sport Cornwall Foundation.

The challenge consists of 6 individuals each with the aim of collectively running a million metres. Each participant will have to run seven kilometres every day for 30 days consecutively to achieve their goal.

This will result in each of them completing a distance of 210,000 metres which is the equivalent of running from Truro to Bristol or running nearly five marathons each in one month.

Stewart will be joined Cornish Pirates Team Manager Matt Evans and Assistant Coach Matt Jess along with Supasport SW C.I.C.’s Managing Director Jamie Thomson, Director Dan Stidwell and Lead Coach Martyn Webster.

The challenge is not only planned to raise the profile of the Sport Cornwall Foundation but also to help the local community. All money raised will be used to deliver free sporting services to people across the county.

One of these services is Sport 4 More that will be available to Cornish residents. Sport 4 More is a style of sports delivery that Supasport SW C.I.C. are known for which uses their style of delivery to show how sport and exercise can be used to teach and help people work on key self-development themes and life skills.

This has been seen in the work they have done previously in the form of P.E. lessons in schools, the Who Dares Works programme led by Active Plus, and via Social Prescribing, where GP’s can offer a place on a Sport 4 More course in place of or alongside a traditional prescription.

We’d like to wish Stewart and all the participants the very best of luck and urge our supporters to get behind this campaign. A small donation will enable more people, adults and children across Cornwall to access sport or exercise and experience the benefits of an active lifestyle.

You can support Yetts, the Sport Cornwall Foundation and everyone else involved by making a donation via the Just Giving page. https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/1million-metres
