CITY conceded a goal two minutes from time as they suffered their second defeat in three days against Sky Bet League 2 opposition, after losing 2-0 to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening.

A rather low key friendly at Treyew Road on Thursday evening, looked to be heading for a draw when Exeter substitute Liam McAlinden finished well, after being put clear in the right of the area as his shot into the far corner gave City substitute keeper Jordan Kelly no chance.

City boss Lee Hodges had made three changes from the team beaten by Plymouth Argyle with Les Afful, Jack Crago and Ollie Knowles coming in for Cody Cooke, Ryan Brett and Ben Adelsbury.

Exeter fielded a youthful side, with many of their first team players watching from the stand, ahead of their game against Burton on Friday evening. Five of their starting XI had not made a competitive first team appearance for the Grecians.

It was Exeter who began the better and Jamie Reid, one of three Grecians' players in the visitors' line-up,along with Connor Riley-Lowe and Maty Jay, who were on loan at Truro last year, hit the underside of the bar with a powerful strike.

But Truro gradually began to grips with the match and as the half wore on there was little between the teams, though the home side did look a little weary after Tuesday night's exertions.

However, the game sprang to life in stoppage time, after Exeter had lost Nick Griimes through injury following a mistimed challenge by River Allen.

In the third minute of time added on, the lively Crago gave Truro the lead when he beat Hamon to a through ball to find the unguarded net.

But sloppily City were unable to hold their lead until the break. as they allowed the Reid far too much space in the area and he gave Tom McHale no chance with an assured finish.

After the break, both sides rang the changes with Truro bringing on seven substitutes and it was Exeter who looked the more threatening.

McHale, who had earlier denied Max Smallcombe, twice thwarted David Wheeler and then McHale's replacement Jordan Kelly produced a great stop to turn away an Alex Byrne shot for a corner

However, Truro were unable to hold on for a draw, in what was at times a scrappy affair and will now get some much needed rest ahead of Monday's visit of Torquay United
