Truro City's preparations for the new season step up a level when they entertain Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday evening (7.30pm) and the Sky Bet League 2 side will be bringing their full first team squad for the match.

The only Argyle player doubtful is defender Karleigh Osborne, one of 11 summer signings.

He has not played in pre-season yet because of a thigh injury and it is not clear yet whether he will be involved on Tuesday night.

Argyle have played four matches so far, the latest a 1-1 draw at Torquay United on Saturday.

In earlier games, they beat St Blazey 9-0, Tavistock 7-2 and Bovey Tracy 6-0.

City manager Lee Hodges, like assistant Rory Fallon, a former Argyle stalwart, is looking forward to the challenge after away friendly wins at the Royal Marines (3-0) and Falmouth Town (2-0).

Hodges is still involved with the Pilgrims as a development coach with the Argyle Community Trust, working on the club's expending education scheme and a number of his youngsters have been involved in City's opening two games and will be on Tuesday night.

He said: "I want to give them opportunities because they deserve it.

"Hopefully we will get a a good gate on Tuesday. It has gone well so far, but Its a big step up and the boys will be looking forward to it.

"It's a case of so far so good. The spirit is fantastic the players have worked very hard and I am pleased with the fitness levels.

"It does not matter win, lose, or draw, you do not get anything from it, but 100 per cent we want to give a good account of ourselves against Argyle.

"We want to see what works what does and we are very fortunate to get this game and the home ones against Exeter City (Thursday, 7.45pm) and Torquay (Monday 7.45pm) and it will be great to see where we are at."

Hodges is expected to rely on the squad that was in action at Falmouth, though he is still looking to bring in some new faces, especially a defender.

New signing striker Rocky Neal is still away on holiday.

Meanwhile, City's top scorer of last season Isaac Vassell has been training with League 2 outfit Luton Town, though no deal has been signed.

City have also agreed an extra friendly at Weymouth on July 30.

Admission prices for the Argyle game: £10 for adults, £8 for concessions (over-65s), £5 for students or under-18s and free entry to any under-12s with an adult.
