TRURO City take on Sky Bet League 2 opposition for the second time in three days this evening, when Exeter City are the visitors to Treyew Road (7.45pm) and manager Lee Hodges is looking for his team to build on their encouraging display in losing 2-0 at home to Plymouth Argyle on Tuesday.

Hodges was pleased with City's performance against Argyle, as they matched the Devon club for 70 minutes, before conceding two goals in the space of three minutes.

Hodges said: "I felt the shape was great for 70 minutes. I was very pleased, everyone did their jobs until they started to tire and Argyle made some changes. The boys have worked very hard in training and I was chuffed to bits. Argyle scored two good goals and they are a very good team.

"It is a case of so far so good. I wanted to make sure we looked fit, organised and competitive and we were all those things."

Hodges though admitted he still needed to strengthen his squad, ahead of their first National League South match at home to Chelmsford City, two weeks on Saturday, August 6.

Against Argyle, City had a very youthful bench, apart from Les Afful and Ollie Knowles, with a number of promising youngsters from Hodges's Argyle Development squad, swelling the numbers. And some of them could well start against Exeter, as Hodges juggles his playing resources, with another home game against Torquay United to come on Monday evening before trips to Willand (27th) and Weymouth (30th).

"I am a bit short of personnel, but I will not bring in someone for the sake of it.

"We have got to find the right ones. We have a couple on the horizon, but whether they will come off we don't know yet."

Hodges, who is back for his second spell in charge at City, is enjoying the challenge.

"Everyone has been very welcoming. We are focused on the Chelmsford game but we have got to make sure get through these matches first."
