Truro City boss promises no let-up as they target FA Trophy success (by Rhod Mitchell, West Briton)

TRURO City take a break from league action on Saturday when they travel to London to play Kingstonian in the FA Trophy.

And manager Steve Tully wants no let-up from the standards his team have set in the past three months as they have put together a remarkable unbeaten 11 match National League South run which has seen them move into play-off contention.

He said: "We will be going for it. We want to win, but it will be tough, they are on a good run."

The winners of Saturday's third qualifying round tie will receive £4,000 in prize money and a place in the first round proper, when the 24 National League clubs enter the competition. City have never got past the first round.

Tully added: "There is £4,000 at stake with the possibility of more to come and that is important for the club.

"The players are looking forward to the game and the chance of playing on a league ground."

Arran Pugh is expected to return to central defence after suspension before he is banned again for picking up five bookings and will miss the league trip to play-off rivals Maidstone on Saturday week.

Reserve keeper Tom McHale and midfielder Aaron Dawson are both out injured, but otherwise Tully is hoping to be able to choose from a full strength squad, with a number of players battling for a place in the starting line-up.

"There are a lot of decisions to be made," said Tully.

Players like Isaac Vassell, Les Afful, Shane White and recent signing Danny Barrow have had to be content with cameo roles from the bench in recent weeks.

But Tully was full of praise for their attitude.

He said he was still looking to bring in another striker following the return of Jamie Reid to Exeter City where he played the 90 minutes in Saturday's win at Plymouth Argyle.

"We have made some enquiries but hopeful should learn a bit more next week," he said.

Kingstonian, who won the FA Trophy in 1999 and 2000, are currently fourth in the Ryman League's premier division, one level below City and reached this stage with a 2-1 replay win in the previous round against Dorchester.
