Steve Tully happy at progress made by Truro City (WMNews Sunday 4th Oct)

Player-manager Steve Tully believes there is “more to come” from Truro City following their 3-0 National League South home win over Havant & Waterlooville.

Buoyant boss Tully said: “That’s four clean sheets in six now, we had a great September because we went through the month unbeaten and we’ve already started October with a good home win.”

New loan signing Jamie Reid marked the start of his spell with Truro’s 10th minute opener and second half goals followed from Jamie Richards and Isaac Vassell as the White Tigers made it three wins in four NLS games.

Tully admitted: “Wayne and I always said it would take time to settle in this league following our promotion and I think that is the case.

“We’ve had a good spell over the past six weeks or so but I still think there is more to come for us.

“The chairman and the fans have had to be patient and I know there will be more ups and downs along the way but I also think it will take until the turn of the year before you see us really get into gear.

“We are new to this league, some have played in it before, but for most of us – Wayne and myself included – this is a new learning curve and I think it will be a bit like last season.

“We have got winter to come, new teams to play and maybe when we have gone though that – and got fitter match by match – then you may see what these players can really do.

“We have got every faith in the group and I know the goal scorers – like Jamie and Vass – will grab the headlines but I have got to sing the praises of our back six and I like to include (keeper) Martin Rice in that.
